Pirates of the Carribean - Gold Class... wooohoo

I was at a partner velocity update with complimentary Gold Class Pirates of the Carribean- Dead Man's chest Movie tixs.

It is an ultimate luxrious experience. I was actually thinking to myself if one would pay $30 per ticket for Gold Class. After the show, I feel that I might buy Gold Class tixs for really good shows in the future. All the glitters is gold class !!!!!!

The seats were super comfy and you can recline them all the way down.

Waitress : What sauce will you like for your hotdog? We have tomato, chilli, mastard and cheese?
Me : Chilli and Mastard.
Waitress : For your popcorn, will you prefer sweet or salted or mixed?
Me : Sweet pls.
Waitress : For your choice of drinks, will you like coke, diet coke, spirte or Ice lemon tea?
Me : Ice Lemon Tea.

In 10 mins, the hotdog, popcorn and drink are served to me.If I need assistance, all i have to do is to press the call button. The waitress even demo to me on the plush electronic recliner seats. I feel like I'm in some kind of fine dining. Well done GV, for this luxury and elegant club ambience.

Pirates of the Carribean- At World's end was not to be missed. It exceeded my expectation, me thinking that part 3 might be kind of repetitive and boring. But it turned out to be quite good i would say.

How to differentiate fakes....

As you can see from my blog's design, I'm a Tokidoki lover. These cartoons, with the ability to put a smile on my face, seem to brighten my day whenever I take a glance at it. I currently have 2 totes and I'm hoping to get more into my collection.

I've came across some sellers in auctions selling fakes, but claiming them to be Genuine. Pls refer to the link below to get more insights to differentiate fakes vs Authentic Tokidoki bags.

8 seconds of silence......

I was away from the office to attend a sales consultative selling skills workshop today. I did get away with a few tips to sharpen my edge.

1. 8 seconds of silence. Human being tends to get uncomfortable after 8 seconds of silence during a conversation. Use it to your advantage as a strategic silence so that your client will continue speaking and reveal more information to your advantage. During this silence, it also gives you time to think.( Personally, this is a tried and tested method by BB )

2. Early exclusion - identify the non-negotiable items early in the deal.Communicate these early exclusions to your customers early.

3. When handling objections, first agree, emphatize and then taggle the objection. Answer and address the objections tactfully.

4. Objections provide an opportunity to educate your customers. Don't fear objections, welcome them. Listen carefully to the complete objection, look for clues, hints and ques.

5. During one's thinking process, if the eyes rolled to the left, it is likely that one is lying and making up the case. If eyes are rolled to the right, it is likely that one is recalling information and retrieval of knowledge. ( I've personally reflected on my behaviour and think that this is kinda true... go ahead, u try it...)

Hope my readers benefit from these tips too :)

I was just getting my daily dose of gossip from Lynnie's blog and look what I'
ve found !!!!!!!!!!!

Kuromi from Sanrio ( the character for my lovely speakers that brighten my day).

By looking at it, I've got a smile on my face already :)

A date at Switzerland

Finally, we had our bi-monthly dinner session at "Switzerland". It was a nice Friday dinner without the kids, together with dan, helen, ariel and her bf. I've been wanting to show Helen on the nice deco at marche Vivo City. Today I finally get my chance... ;)

While waiting to be seated, I went to take some pics on the marche cows.On one of them, it says Switzapore.. moo...

The deco was really nice, for a moment, I felt i am in Switzerland, in one of the cottages having some fire-stove dinner of some sort.

I went around, choosing my ala carte dinner. The food was not too bad and the desert was fantastic. I spoted something new, it is a stick of sugar shown in the picture below. Call me a mountain tortise but I've never seen anything like this before. It makes drinking tea so much more fun after all.

Lastly, I took a picture of the cable car, supposingly used for transporting ski lovers in the Swiss Alps. ..

How i miss my days in Switzerland. Switzerland remains to be my favourite place that I will like to revisit someday. It has got such beautiful scenary at Lucerne and Interlaken, such friendly Swiss and my favourite Watch maker Rolex (hee hee).Till then, I will visit this marche more often, just to get a little ambience.

Choices are the hinges of destiny

I feel relieved after the major decision making are done. I've learnt that I'm a truly indecisive person, one moment is YES, another moment will be NO. So after all these exercises, I've learnt to understand what are REAL critical factors in my life while others just remain important or just nice to have. I've learnt to reflect on my thoughts. Thanks Mr Yeo, BB, MB and PB for all your patience and advice.

As lynnie once told me ... ...When one door closes another door opens....... but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.

Brother & Sister

Took some photos of the kids recently. Kieran is currently 4 mths old and faith is going to be 4 yrs old in August. The brother is beginning to look a lot like his sister when she was much younger. Can you spot the similarities?

Kieran, as a demanding young boy, is in the phase of sleep denial. His afternoon naps are less than an hour and he wants to play most of the time when he is awake. He is a tough nut to crack.

After a hard day's work, I return home with a tired mind and body, only to be welcomed by these 2 angels sent from heaven. Instanteously, all your troubles seems so far away. I see the sparkles in their eyes when they talk/play with me. No wonder they say you've never really lived if u dont have kids. Some part of that comment is rather true.

Kids : Thank you for completing me.

Monkey See....Monkey Do..

We went to Rifle Range Flyover today, it seems to be a secretive part of Singapore that we have just discovered. Faith was just so keen when we told her we are going to see some monkeys today.

She totally enjoyed herself today, acting like a cheerful monkey herself when she saw little monkeys on the roads and in the trees. While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about.

Fruits of the foreign land

Ever wonder why fruits of the foreign land are always more expensive. It might not be due to the fact that it tastes better or is more juicy. I think it is because it is more rare than common tropical fruits that we are accessible to in Singapore. I went to Meiya at Liang Court today and saw these fruits of the foreign Land. Make a guess how much the melons costs? (Answer : More than S$30 per melon).

On a personal note, I enjoyed this day out with the kids and in-laws today. I guess i'm less stressed with bringing Kieran out and that he is more "well-behaved" as compared when he was a newborn. ( I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will still remain that way.)

Children are living jewels dropped unsustained from heaven..........

Blue Friday....

It is rare for anyone to feel blue on a Friday cos naturally, one would feel good towards the weekend when we can all leave work and relax for a while.

But this Friday is different. I was swept with a strong Blue, a feeling that i didnt have for quite sometime already. I just want to hide under my blankie and cuddle in my warm sheets. I guess i was faced with too much decision making for the major things in life and I'm having mixed feelings. Bogged with too much burdens on my shoulders and to make things worse, Iron Balls chained to both my legs, I feel that I can't move forward any further.... ..*sob* *sob* *sob*

I went to SLS to run some errands and When I saw Nice Eyes( the name for this toy speaker featured in the picture),I can't help it and bought it without much hesitation, just to brighten my day a little. Isn't it cute???

After a nice lunch with my favourite client and a nice cup of cuppacino at his office (packed with a nice tour in his new ofc), I'm back to work. I went to search on positive thinking quotes, just to motivate myself a little and to escape out of the BLUE BLUE mood. Feelings are much like waves, we can't stop them from coming but we can choose which one to surf.

Here is a nice quote on positive thinking to end my note for the day :

Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

Go Home on Time......

Just went thru my mails and saw a interesting article sent by an ex-colleague to me. BB was troubled by some problems at work and this is a good reminder that in our frantic chase for material life, we often forget to slow down to enjoy the finer things in life, those that are truly the most important. Take time to read thru this meaning article ......

Mr. Narayana Murthy is undoubtedly one of the most famous persons from Karnataka. He is known not just for building the biggest IT empire in India but also for his simplicity. Almost every important dignitary visitsInfosys campus. He delivered an interesting speech during an employee session with another IT company in India . He isincidentally, one of the top 50 Influential people of Asia according to an Asiaweek publication and also the new IT Advisor to the Thailand Prime Minister.

Extract of Mr. Narayana Murthy's Speech during Mentor Session : "I know people who work 12 hours a day, sixdays a week, or more. Some people do so because of a work emergency where the long hours are only temporary. Other people I know have put in these hours for years. I don't know if they are working all these hours, but I do know they are in the office this long.Others put in long office hours because they are addicted to the workplace.Whatever the reason for putting in overtime, working long hours over the long term is harmful to the person and to the organization.

There are things managers can do to change this for everyone's benefit. Being in the office long hours, over long periods of time, makes way for potential errors. My colleagues who are in the office long hours frequently make mistakes caused by fatigue.Correcting these mistakes requires their time as well as the time and energy of others. I have seen people work Tuesday through Friday to correct mistakes made after 5 PM on Monday. Another problem is that people who are in the office long hours are not pleasant company. They often complain about other people (who aren't working as hard); they are irritable, or cranky, or even angry. Other people avoid them. Such behavior poses problems, where work goes much better when people work together instead of avoiding one another.

As Managers, there are things we can do to help people leave the office. First and foremost is to set the example and go home ourselves. I work with a manager who chides people for working long hours. His words quickly lose their meaning when he sends these chiding group e-mails with a time-stamp of 2 AM, Sunday.Second is to encourage people to put some balance in their lives.

For instance, here is a guideline I find helpful:
1) Wake up, eat a good breakfast, and go to work.
2) Work hard and smart for eight or nine hours.
3) Go home.
4) Read the books/comics, watch a funny movie, dig in the dirt, play with your kids, etc.
5) Eat well and sleep well. This is called recreating. Doing steps 1, 3, 4, and 5 enable step 2.

Working regular hours and recreating daily are simple concepts. They are hard for some of us because that requires 'personal change'.They are possible since we all have the power to choose to do them. In considering the issue of overtime, I am reminded of my oldest son. When he was a toddler, if people were visiting the apartment, he would not fall asleep no matter how long the visit, and no matter what time of day it was. He would fight off sleep until the visitors left.It was as if he was afraid that he would miss something. Once our visitors' left, he would go to sleep. By this time, however, he was over tired and would scream through half the night with nightmares. He, my wife, and I, all paid the price for his fear of missing out.

Perhaps some people put in such long hoursbecause they don't want to miss anything when they leave the office. The trouble with this is that events will never stop happening. That is life !!Things happen 24 hours a day. Allowing for little rest is not ultimately practical. So, take a nap. Things will happen while you're asleep, but you will have the energy to catch up when you wake.

Hence..."LOVE YOUR JOB, BUT NEVER FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR COMPANY BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE COMPANY STOPS LOVING YOU" -- Narayana Murthy

Short BKK Trip over the weekends..

We went for a short tip at BKK over last wee end for some retail theraphy and massage sessions. Siam@siam hotel was one of the best hotels I've stayed in BKK so far. It is affordable yet exceeding our expectations in many ways ( cleanliness, design, location, customer service, faciliaties, esp the swimming pool and spa).

On the 2nd day, we went to ChatuCha to begin our shopping spree.. the war of haggling has officially begin. It was a hot and sweaty affair. I must admit that Daniel is really good at haggling.... not even 1 baht is wasted.

Any guesses for what the below picture is ???
